You don’t have to be a professional to want to renovate your home kitchen to look like a chef kitchen.

If you enjoy cooking then having it set up like a restaurant will make it even more enjoyable. Things are built and organized for efficiency in a professional kitchen. When you have everything at your fingertips it makes it much more enjoyable to put meals together.

Then there’s the matter of style. It can look pretty cool when it looks like a professional kitchen.

Whether you have a small kitchen or a big one, take a look at some of these tips to set up your kitchen like a restaurant.

Professional Kitchen At Home

Before You Renovate

Hopefully you have been using your kitchen for a while so you understand the flow you are looking for. You want to avoid setting things up just with the style in mind and not understand how you will be using the space.

Make a map of the kitchen with measurements and try to plan out where you need things the most. Then you can think about how you want it to look. This is when you decide if you want to have a classic French bistro style or modern one with glass kitchen countertops.

Set Up Zones

The reason that professional kitchens are so efficient is because they have it sectioned off. One area is for cleaning, another for storage and another for prep/cooking. This way when you are doing one activity you have everything you need within reach without needing to run around.

Keep your preparation and cooking area in one zone with the fridge there so you don’t have to run to the other side of the kitchen. All your tools should be in that area as well.

By the sink, you will need to have your cleaning stuff handy as you normally would. The difference is that you should have your storage area between the cooking and washing sections.

When you have the pots and pans cleaned, then they are ready to be used in the cooking section without needing to backtrack to get them.

Appliances

The part that gets most people excited is choosing the appliances. The stove is your pride and joy so take time to choose the right one. I would definitely stay away from electric stove tops since they don’t give you much control.

If you don’t have gas in your house, then go with an induction cooktop as you have even more control than when using gas. And they are totally safe.

You may be tempted to buy a commercial stove, but they are actually illegal in the home and are quite dangerous. You can buy lookalike ranges that are as close to professional as you can get without the danger. Convection ovens are the way to go if you plan to do a lot of baking.
