Lakeside Retreat In British Columbia, Canada (1).Jpg

Extruding an intimate romance with material and texture, characteristic of the humble wood cabin, onto grander canvas and ambitions, Canadian design firm Robert Bailey Interiors initiates a contemporary dialogue with earth, sky and surrounds. Building from the ground up, and inspired by the natural topography as well as client sketches, the Naramata Cabin moves away from the constricted footprint of conventional typologies, to incorporate generous strokes and open gestures into its design. Overlooking the beautiful Lake Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada, this stunning lakeside retreat interweaves its presence and experience with nature, yet gracefully stands out in celebration of its intention, efforts and design.

Drawn out as a series of fluid, open spaces, the residence breathes freely to create a moving dialogue of indoor and outdoor vistas. Clean lines, generous openings and crisp, uncluttered layouts bring a distinctly modern touch to this home – all in keeping with the authenticity of the site and space. Within, French oak sets up stage, adorning the floors and ceiling to set rhythm, tone and character to the interiors. More than just a pleasant illustration of wood in interior design, this lakeside retreat packs in a beautiful handling of space, light and movement, striking that often elusive yet timeless and organic balance between the intentional and the spontaneous.
