It’s only a few months until Spring is upon us, so it’s a good time to think about getting your home clean and ready for the beautiful lighter mornings and warmer weather that awaits.

If you want to make an early start but are looking for some inspiration, look no further. Here are 5 cleaning tips to get your home ready for Spring.

Green Interior

Declutter

Now is a great time to start the decluttering process. Your home may be full of belongings that you no longer want or use, so what better time to start getting rid of them – just in time for Spring.

The more you clear, the easier your home will be to clean, so if you no longer use, need, or want it – it’s time to say goodbye.

Clean Your Windows

If you live in an area prone to wind, rain, or snow, your windows may have taken a bit of a battering recently. As Spring approaches, take some time to wipe down all your window frames and give the glass a good clean inside and out.

Dust and grime-free windows will help to let the sun in and make your home feel brighter and lighter.

Spruce Up Your Patio

Time and inclement weather can take their toll on your patio areas, so it’s worth giving them a good clean too. It will make your garden look far more appealing and will be nice to have a clean patio to use as you start spending more time outside when the weather improves.

Power washers give great results, but if your patio is in a pretty bad state or has lots of staining, caustic soda might be your best option. It is powerful stuff, so be sure to wear protective clothing before using it.

Freshen Up Your Floors

Spring is a great time to give your carpets a deep clean. You can hire carpets cleaning machines that do a pretty thorough job, but if you want the best results and your budget allows, it’s worth getting the professionals in to do it instead. Make yourself scarce for a few hours, and you will come home to carpets that look like new.

Most carpet cleaning firms can deal with upholstery too, so if you have any furniture that could do with a quick clean, why not kill two birds with one stone and have it done as well?

Clear Your Kitchen Cabinets

If clearing your kitchen cabinets is long overdue, now is as good a time as any. From out-of-date canned foods to kitchen gadgets you don’t need, you will probably find a host of things that you can dispose of. Empty one cabinet at a time, give it a good wipe and then put things you intend to keep back.

It’s also a great time to decide what belongs where and arrange things a little better. Once done, you will feel a great sense of achievement and be motivated to keep it clean and organized.
