Designing out in the middle of nowhere can be just as exciting a prospect as it can be challenging, but the results too can be just as spectacular as is illustrated in this mountain home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Completed 2011, the 5,400 square foot modern mountain residence stands as an icon of human endeavor, creativity and triumph amid a landscape doused in natural beauty and dramatics. But this design, by Pearson Design Group, does not shy away from making its presence clear, indulging in a few architectural dramatics of its own to delight both – the resident and the viewer.
Elevated off the ground by a series of steps, which serve both functional and aesthetic purpose, the home is drawn out as a series of planes and elements, configured in sharp angles and unexpected twists that set stage for a design spectacular. These create a unique overlay of the grand outdoor experience and the warm indoor embrace, offering a multitude of ways to converse with both throughout the house. Further, the natural topographies of the land are integrated into the design to create a gradient of use and privacy, allowing for some beautifully intimate moments with nature, even from the comfort of your armchair.
Indoors, the use of concrete animates this space and décor, bringing a modern sensuality to even the barest of arrangements. A careful selection of elements, furnishings, artwork and accents complete the design, making this modern mountain residence picture perfect.
