This house is a beautiful example of a modern family home. Situated in a quiet neighborhood in Casablanca, Morocco, the plot of 458 sqm / 4930 sqft provided the architects from Yachar Bouhaya Architecte with excellent opportunities to both, create a charming architectural jewel, as much as satisfy the requirements and expectations of the home-owners. The aim of the design concept was to make the house conveniently functional for a long-term every-day use, while creating an ambiance of a tempting and cozy escapade oasis.
Achieving practical functionality starts right from the architectural plans and floor layout of the building. Not only the house offers enough space to accommodate all needed living premises in generous proportions, but it has also been designed to meet the environmental and climate challenges of the geographical area.
The building is designed in two volumes – a front, double-height structure facing the street, and a second, single-story one, extending to the back of the plot. The highlight of the front, south-facing façade of the house is a concrete awning completed by motorized louvers. These smart architectural elements not only contribute to the original looks of the building, but also have functional application allowing to both, protect the interior space from strong sunlight in the summer and let in enough light in grey and cloudy days.
Practical functionality is exhibited in the interior design, too. Designers have chosen a modern style approach with a somewhat minimalistic touch, featuring uncluttered space, modern furniture in simplified forms, contemporary lighting solutions, neutral color tones and scarce decoration.
The house may lack extravagance or exotic lavishness in terms of décor or furnishing, but the designers have made sure it offers the family a peaceful and cozy ambiance to enjoy all year round. Linking the two structural volumes, there is an infinity pool in the backyard, featuring a beautiful lining of Bali green stone and a pleasant relax area, while inside there are a TV & entertainment room, a gym and even a hammam.
