This beautiful house has been built above a small waterfall which gives the buildings occupants a sense of serenity and a stunning view. Situated at Bear Creek near Pittsburgh, America, the house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and actually built between 1936 and 1939. Natural stone and glass are heavily featured throughout the waterfall home but it is the open deck areas that offer the best views.
The house is furnished in a style that harks back to earlier times but still is popular with interior designers today. Color comes from textiles such as cushions and accessories like the fun-looking orange ball that hangs in the stone fireplace. The incorporation of indoor and outdoor space has been achieved easily by planning the layout of the waterfall home well. Parts of this stunning house are suspended over pools of the waterfall giving the house the rather apt name of ‘Fallingwater’.
The waterfall home is known as a marvel of architecture and has drawn many visitors over the years. This house is beautiful, unusual and much loved by all who see it – we think it’s a great example of how perfect planning can create a wonderful home close to nature.
