She’s a brick..house! The big bad wolf may have had to quit his day job with our previous brick house feature, but this rendition is sure to make sure he never has hopes of coming back! We love how versatile the modern brick designs are getting nowadays! This home, located in Sant Cugat in Barcelona, Spain, really has our attention with its distinctive layout. It was exclusively designed by H Arquitectes, a Barcelonan architecture firm that specializes in a variety of different family home styles.
The design of this brick house is especially unique due to its separate yet connected concept. The owners of the home were very specific about what they wanted. However, the unspoken rule in the architect world is to take their wishes into consideration in a way that still incorporates the fundamental ethics of what will help erect an amazing place to live. In this case, the specifications the owners wanted worked in both parties’ favor. One of the main features of the home’s location was the garden that came with it. The team at H Arquitectes integrated the garden and home by creating connective breezeways that created a sense of oneness for this single family home. The connective breezeways start at the first brick box, which contains several bedrooms, a play area for the kids and an additional leisure area. The breezeway continues to the second box, where the kitchen, fireplace and family area are located. The last box centers on the parents and includes their bedroom, garden and private art studio.
This brick house encourages family bonding and also the space needed to grow and develop. The way we look at house dynamics as we know it is changing for the better!
