What can you make out with a 25 square meter (269 square feet) space? One French architectural firm converted the entire space into a functional home and office. This is what the Agence SML creatively did on this tower apartment using materials with lesser footprints, minimalist inspiration and a finished product that serves both as living and working area for its occupants.
Playing with colors to create artificial space and lighting where these are scarce; the designer further capitalized on the structural design that has for its plus factor the length rather than width. White paint was used all over to throw off more light when the only source is the roof skylights. This also produced an effect of heightened space despite the crammed floor area. The entire length of the tower apartment was divided into three floors with innovative staircases that are open for light to pass through the lower floors. In the ground floor, you have the bathroom. The second floor houses the kitchen and dining area. In the third floor, a functional working space has been designed equipped with tables and chairs and the built-in closet that maximized remaining space. It is also built on a metal grid to allow lights to pass through. On the loft, a bed was placed as sleeping area facing directly the lights that passes from the rooftop windows. This tower apartment is truly an amazing piece of design ideal for a more sustainable urban living.
