Who needs regular paintings when you can have live ones? Take a look at this amazing DIY vertical succulent garden tutorial, found on Luna-See. It will help you easily create your own vertical garden that will make you feel proud of yourself.

What you need for the project is:

  •  vintage frame /the one in the pictures is with a 16″ x 20″ opening/
  • 1″ chicken wire
  • 22″x 26″ piece of oak plywood for the backing
  • 9′ long piece of 2″x2″wood strips
  • nails
  • water based outdoor Varathane Diamond Spar Urethane spray
  • about 10 lbs of cactus soil
  • 50+ succulent clippings

How to make your own DIY vertical succulent garden:

  • Apply 4 coats of Spar Urethane varnish to the front and back of the frame /let each layer dry before spray the next/
  • Lay the frame face down and press a large piece of 1″ chicken wire down though the interior opening
  • Staple the chicken wire into place on the back side of the frame
  • Use nails to secure four 2″x2″wood strips to the back of the frame
  • Prevent cactus soil from falling through the wire using Spanish moss
  • Fill the soil with succulent clippings
  • Wait patiently for the garden to grow
