The-Transformation-Of-The-Boatsheds-1

While it’s true that some buildings have only one life it’s also a challenge to take a building and give it a totally different outlook and future. The boatsheds in Takapuna, Auckland have become a prominent feature and were the brain wave of Strachan Group Architects. On a small site close to the beach the boatsheds are a reminder of the culture of the area.

Inside the boatsheds you can see that quality of the materials used, especially in the highly crafted timber that gives the building such a warm and welcoming feel. Large black framed windows allow natural light to flood into the building all year round and on the ground floor open up onto a beautiful garden area with a deck and small pool. A large bathroom feels luxurious and has everything you could need or want, including dual sinks and a free standing bath.

Many of the furniture pieces are made from timber with accents of the industrial found in the metal legs. A stainless steel kitchen makes a large focal point and is a fantastic place to create delicious dishes. The boatsheds are modern but timeless in design and are an unusual but much loved home by the sea.
