Dutch company The Playing Circle creates an enthralling retail experience with their periodically recurring pop-up stores. Nicknamed ‘The Loft’, these conceptual projects bring together a rich array of products, fittings and furnishings, on offer from the brand, in the open plan space of an Amsterdam apartment. Doubling up as a social hub, meeting room and an apartment for rent, the design touches multiple lives and avenues, firing up minds, ideas and imagination.
Housed in a well-lit open plan space, Loft I dwells in a sense of the unpredictable. Yet it is a triumph of design, with every frame a picture of perfection. The eclectic nature of this space is beautifully balanced by careful curation, harmonizing the overall scheme into a bold, striking and free experience. What results are playful redefinitions of everyday encounters and activities, inviting you to explore and step outside the boundaries.
The furnishings and elements are intricate and stunningly crafted, bringing a refined sensibility to the Loft. Working primarily with a palette of natural materials – such as wood, leather, wool, steel, ceramics and glass – the design creates warmth and beckons the visitor forth. Currently Loft I is available for rent as holiday accommodation; the next time you visit Amsterdam, make sure to indulge in its unique charm, character and experience.
